Skopje, 26 October 2026 – Today, on the first day of this year’s Media Literacy Days, organized by the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services, the findings of the Media Literacy Survey Among Secondary School Students were presented. The survey was conducted by the Rating Agency at the request of the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services (AVMU).
As Sofia Ristova, a representative of the Rating Agency, explained in her presentation, the survey covered 889 secondary school students from 40 secondary schools where instruction is delivered in Macedonian, Albanian and Turkish. It includes a quantitative analysis of the media literacy competencies of third- and fourth-year secondary school students during the 2025/2026 school year, as well as a comparative analysis with the results of the survey conducted during the 2023/2024 school year. The presentation of the survey is available at the following link.
The event was attended by students from the “Kocho Racin” and “Josip Broz Tito” secondary schools in Skopje, as well as the “Goce Delchev” Secondary School in Kumanovo, and representatives of the Bureau for the Development of Education.
The presentation provided an opportunity to gain insight into the level of media literacy among secondary school students, their competencies in critically understanding and evaluating media content, and the need for the continuous improvement of the knowledge and skills necessary for safe, responsible and informed participation in today’s media environment.
Through activities of this kind, Media Literacy Days continues to encourage discussion about the importance of media literacy in education and the role of young people in developing a critical approach to the information they encounter daily across different media.
