On 28 October, as part of Media Literacy Days, the National Youth Council of Macedonia held an event dedicated to media, education and young people in the digital age.
The event marked an important milestone for media education in North Macedonia – the presentation of the curriculum for the elective subject “Media Literacy” and a handbook for secondary school teachers!
For the first time, media literacy is taking concrete shape in secondary education through a curriculum and a practical resource that will help teachers bring this topic closer to their students.
The exchange of experiences and perspectives at the conference “MediUM Literacy: Media, Education and Young People in the Digital Age” reaffirmed the importance of a joint commitment to creating educational opportunities through which young people can develop critical thinking skills, make informed decisions and become active participants in democratic processes.
The event was organised as part of the Western Balkans Youth Policy Lab, an initiative of the Regional Cooperation Council.
