As part of the “Topic for Dilemma” project, on October 22, 2018 in Bitola, workshops began to be held with high school students from seven high schools in Bitola.
The first workshop was realized with high school students from PSU SABA – Bitola who showed great interest during the activities that were foreseen in the agenda.
“We need an educated youth who will know what is hidden behind every news and how to recognize the real one,” says the project coordinator.
“We live in an era of fast information, but are we aware that we also live in a time in which fake news and pseudo-news are often manipulated?” The young man should be well educated so that he can easily recognize fake news, tendentious information, censorship and self-censorship of the author. Only in this way will the young person form a correct attitude, analyze independently and, most importantly, isolate himself from manipulations, propaganda and untruths. The workshops foreseen in the “Topic for Dilemma” project envisage media literacy of Bitola high school students, expansion of their formal education and, most importantly, increasing awareness in the context of critical opinion and selection of media content” – said Bisera Bijelić, coordinator of the “Topic for dilemma”.
After the workshop, the participants left with positive impressions and media savvy. They say that nowadays everyone needs this kind of education.
“I think that everyone should get the opportunity to participate in this kind of media literacy training. The knowledge I got from the training will be useful to me in the future” – says Marija Delovska, a student at PSU SABA – Bitola.
“Today’s workshop was very interesting and educational. I learned many things that I had heard about before, but were not completely clear to me. I would like to participate in such workshops in the future” – says Nikola Naumovski, a student at PSU SABA – Bitola.
A total of 140 high school students will be educated at the workshops within the “Topic for Dilemma” project.
