High school students from several schools today have the opportunity to come, enter and take a look at the editorial office of Radio MOF, now freshly renovated, to meet the journalists and the editorial staff and to learn first hand how the journalistic product is “baked”. Also, what are the daily tasks, the role of the media, but also audio-visual tools for working on topics, shows or analyses.
During this Open Media Day, we took the young people for a walk through the editorial office and the courtyard, they also entered our new “deaf room”, and some tried out as podcast hosts.
Meanwhile, in conversations with journalists, they heard how this small digital media was started by a group of MOF enthusiasts, first in an apartment in Kapistec, and then they turned the basement of a house in Kisela Voda into a relevant youth media, which over the years covers human rights topics, marginalized communities, activism, subculture, quality education and humane living.
The young people heard that there is a team working here that adheres to the ethical code of journalists, but there is also a team working here that wants to make friends, to communicate with young people who give us ideas on how to improve. We listened to suggestions, we also heard criticism. Together we discussed digital and information literacy.
With this event, Radio MOF joined this year’s Media Literacy Days.
