THE FILM influences children and young people culturally, creatively and critically!
2139 students from 20 schools in Skopje participated in a successfully implemented activity – Free showing of thematic films for children from elementary schools (from VI to IX).
In 8 cinema screenings that took place in three cinemas: Millennium Cinema, Cineplex, Cinematheque, three European themed films were shown, namely:
– The Italian film “My brother chases dinosaurs” directed by Stefano Cipani
– The Danish film “Hacker” directed by Paul Berg and
– The Danish film “Plaid Ninja” directed by Thorbjorn Kristoffersen and Anders Matesen
The three European films as art, but also as a didactic aid, were an excellent source for the students to encourage and challenge them to think, raise their awareness, as well as discuss the topic of a specific film that they watched collectively with their peers in a cinema hall on a big movie screen.
At 6 screenings out of a total of 8, the students had the opportunity after watching the films to discuss three important topics: life with a person with a disability (Down syndrome), prejudices, bullying, technologies, video games with psychologists and that:
– Ivan Hristov, who covered two topics: life with a person with a disability (Down’s syndrome), prejudices and bullying
– Maja Cvetanovska – psychologist and researcher on the topic: life with a person with a disability (Down’s syndrome), prejudices
– Elena Petrovska – psychologist, on the topic: technologies, video games
– Ana Blaževa – psychologist, psychotherapist on the topic: bullying
The Media Literacy Network would like to thank the psychologists who, through the conversation with the students, managed to move them, challenge them, and also confront them with the specific and important topics.
Thanks also to the supporters: the Film Agency, Millennium Cinema, Cineplex, Cinematheque of RSM, and the distribution house Kataway, who enabled an idea to be realized in a cultural, critical and creative experience for elementary school students.
The Film Literacy Working Group at the Media Literacy Network continues its efforts to include film as an art form with a universally understandable code, and film literacy as a form of literacy in formal education (primary and secondary).
We continue with activities aimed at schools in order for the film to be part of the teaching formal programs as a separate aesthetic entity and as a didactic aid.
Take a look at today’s atmosphere (01.11.2022) and the crowded hall in the Millennium cinema, where 457 students from OU “Kuzman Shapkarev”, OU “Aleksandar Makedonski”, OU “Nevena Georgieva Dunja” and OU “Congressi i Manastirit” watched the film “Plaid” Ninja”.
