Skopje, 17.05.2019 – A meeting of the Media Literacy Network was held today, where the members’ previous activities, current projects, as well as the future of the Network and the possibility of organizing joint events and activities were discussed.
At the meeting, the representatives of the Macedonian Media Institute, the Metamorfosis Foundation and the Youth Educational Forum referred to their current activities for re-granting civil society organizations that they implement within the framework of the projects financed by the European Union. The agency presented the document “Policy for Media Literacy” and referred to the four components that should be worked on in the next period.
One of the main topics of discussion was the need to structure the Network in a way that would allow greater dynamism of interactions, while maintaining the principles of democracy and equality by which it functions. For this purpose, MIM presented “Recommendations for integrating the concept of media literacy in different social spheres” created as a result of the experiences of the study visit to the Regulatory Body of Ireland and the Irish Media Literacy Network. In this context, the question was raised about the need for additional structuring of the Network and the formation of separate groups that will contribute to greater coordination and cooperation between the members working on specific aspects of media literacy.
The present members of the Network also discussed the joint organization of future events and activities.
